HYDERABAD CHAPTER

INTRODUCTION

The Aeronautical Society of India, Hyderabad Branch has always played a vital role in nurturing the indigenous scientific talent and promoting professionalism in the field of aerospace sector. Hyderabad is one of the major centers for technology developments in various disciplines of aeronautical and aerospace sciences. Since its inception this branch had been associated with many important technical events of national importance. The strength of the members has gone to almost 400 drawn from major establishments such as DRDO, Indian Airlines, MIDHANI, BDL, NRSA, Educational Institutes etc.

The present committee took over during 2000 under the chairmanship of Dr.V.K. Sarswat. Since then under the able leadership of Chairman, this branch strengthened its membership and is concentrating to upgrade the technology and help the nation to define appropriate technologies. This branch has played a pivotal role in bringing together government agencies, private industries and public sectors on a common platform for promoting the growth of aerospace sciences by organizing various technical seminars, exhibitions, workshops etc. Under the present executive committee, about ten technical lectures were delivered by eminent personalities in the field of aerospace sciences. Members of the Hyderabad branch were immensely benefited from these lectures.

The main objectives of the Ae.S.I, Hyderabad branch has been :

 
i) Promotion of active interaction among aerospace community.
ii) Professional growth of members.
iii) Organising technical meets, seminars, exhibitions etc.
iv) Active interaction with industries engaged in aerospace activities.
 
MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS DURING 2000-2002

(Under the Present Executive Committee)

I. Organized following technical meets / Lectures :

1. "Hypersonic and trans atmospheric vehicle design and application", By Air Cmde. (Retd) R. Gopalaswami, AVSM, VSM on September 2nd, 2000 at Hotel Ramada Manohar.

2. "Art of flight simulation in aviation" by Shri R.P. Anand Kumar, Sr. Mgr FSM, IAL on Sept. 2nd, 2000 at Ramada Manohar Hotel.

LT.GEN. D.B.Singh, PVSM, AVSM, Commandant , MCEME, Secunderabad was the Guest of Honour for above meet.

3. "Man power for engineering + Technology programmes in India" by Padma Bhushan Prof. P. Rama Rao, Vice Chanceller, University of Hyderabad on February 3rd, 2001 at Hotel Viceroy, Hyderabad.

4. "Quality through knowledge management in Aerospace", by Shri Prahlada, Director , DRDL, Hyderabad.

5. "Traffic alert collision avoidance systems : Trend & its future" by Shri U.S. Paul Russel, Dy Mgr (Engg-Trs) IAL, Hyderabad

Padma Bhushan Prof. P. RAMA RAO, Vice Chancellor. Univeristy of Hyderabad was the Guest of Honour for above meet.

6. "LCA Development" by Dr. Kota Harinarayana, Programme Direcotr, LCA on May, 27th, 2001 at Hotel Ramada Manohar.

7. "GSLV Experiences", by Shri R.V. Perumal, Project Director, GSLV on May, 27th, 2001 at Hotel Ramada Manohar, Hyderabad.

Shri Bimol K. Srivastav, Airport Director, AAI was the Guest of Honour for above meet.

8. " An integrated Approach for reforms to aviation sector in India", by Shri B.P. Baliga, Vice President – Support Services, Jet Airways, Mumbai on October 20th, 2001 at Hotel Ramada Manohar, Hyd.
