All
professional connected with Aeronautics and Aviation can apply for
membership on the prescribed Form in the Grade of Fellow, Member,
Companion, Associate Member, Graduate or Associate depending on
their eligibility. The
application forms can be obtained from the registered office of the
Society or from any of the Branches. The application forms can also
be downloaded from the official website of The Aeronautical Society
of India, Hyderabad branch.
The
completed application form may be handed over to the Honorary
Secretary of the Branch of which one desires to be a member or
mailed to their Head of the Society.
Qualification
for Various Grades of Membership
Honorary
Fellows
The
council may elect eminent persons intimately connected with
aeronautics or a science closely allied thereto whom the society
desires to honor and who have rendered exceptionally important
services to the cause of aeronautics, as Honorary Fellows.
Fellows
A
Branch Committee or any five full Members together may make
suggestions with regard to election of Fellows.
Every candidate for election into the class of Fellows shall
be a Member or possess the qualifications necessary for Membership.
A citation in support of the nomination shall accompany the
recommendation.
Companies
Companies
shall be those persons who are ineligible for the technical grade,
but have contributed or are likely to contribute directly or
indirectly to the development of aeronautical science and
engineering or to the furtherance of the objectives of the Society.
Members
Member
shall have been either Associate Members or shall have fulfilled the
conditions necessary for Associate Membership.
They shall have achieved distinction in the profession of
aeronautics and or shall have held a position of responsibility for
minimum period 5 years. In
Addition they shall have either.
a) Made useful
scientific or technical contribution in the field of aircraft design
or production or aeronautical research or education or training or
in any other branch of aviation technology.
or
b) Acquired considerable
experience of the practical aspects of aviation for at least a total
period of 10 years as pilots, navigators, aircraft maintenance
engineers, production engineers, aeronautical communication
engineers, air traffic controllers or other scientific or
technological personnel engaged in aviation activities or a field
related to aviation activity such as aviation medicine, law,
finance, marketing, management and holding a responsible position,
in a manner acceptable to the Council.
Associate
Members
Associate
Members shall have passed the Associate Membership Examination of
the Society or any other examination acceptable to the Council as of
a equivalent standard, including a degree in engineering in any
discipline and shall have been engaged, in addition to the period of
training, for at least 2 years in the profession of aeronautics or
in other special scientific or technical work applied to aeronautics
including work connected with aircraft engineering or operations or
post-graduate studies in engineering.

They
shall have acquired experience of the practical aspects of aviation
for at least a total period of 8 years as pilots, navigators,
aircraft maintenance engineers, production engineers, aeronautical
communication engineers, air traffic controllers or other scientific
or technological personnel engaged in aviation activities or a field
related to aviation activities such as aviation medicine, law
finance, marketing or management, in a manner acceptable to the
Council.
Graduates
Graduates
shall have passed the Associate Membership Examination of the
Aeronautical Society of India , Parts II and III/ Section A and B or
any other examination acceptable to the Council as of an equivalent
standard.
Associates
Associates
shall be engaged in any branch of aeronautics for a period of 5
years out of which 3 years shall be in a supervisory capacity.
Election
of Members
Every
candidate for election or transfer to any grade of membership shall
be proposed and seconded by two members who know the candidate
personally. A candidate for election to Fellowship shall be proposed
and seconded by two Fellows.
A
candidate for election to Membership or Companionship shall be
proposed and seconded by two Members.
A
candidate for election to Associate Membership shall be proposed and
seconded by a Member and an Associate Member respectively. A candidate for election to Graduate-ship or Associate ship
shall be proposed and seconded by two Associate members. However in case of candidate for election to Graduate ship
who have passed Section A & B examinations of the Society, this
requirement has been relaxed.
The
election of members shall be confirmed by the Council based on the
recommendation of the Grading Committee at any of its meeting.

Rates
Regarding
rates of subscription, entrance fee, transfer fee etc., interested
persons may contact the Registered office of the Society at New
Delhi.
